Working my way back a little

Know who this guy is? He was hiding behind the wall paper of the truckstop bistro where we had lunch today - and he's authentic. He had been waiting probably 200 years to get uncovered after the Revolution when the bistro owners decided to redecorate. "What do you mean, truckstop?" Well, the bistro serves a single menu at lunch time so you choose it or move on to the next joint. This is in a small village outside Agen and we had a 4-course lunch - soup, melon w/ ham, cordon bleu for main course, dessert (custard flan, Dudes) wine and coffee - for $14.00 - and we had loads of guys from the phone company and contractors chewing away at the same time.

Here's a give-away clue about the weather in Agen - that's a mister in the downtown walking district - it was in the 90's...........

"Tour de France Friends Street" - well, you didn't think I'd possibly miss a chance for THIS picture, did you? Serignac is the closest village to our farm house - we are in the STICKS, man and it's awesome. We're about 1 K from the canal (we're in Euroland now and everybody only knows kilometers, poor suckers) and have borrowed a couple better bikes from our buddies Rene and Alvin so we can tackle the canal towpath again.

You didn't think you'd escape without some cartalk, too? The orange guy could be a parts car for me and Alec - just need to get it home.....and the little squib of a vehicle was parked in the train parking lot. Looks like a single passenger vehicle of some sorts - Glenn Stilwell - we were caught behind one of your farming grandma lawnmower motor "Vehicles" on the way into town. We had a dozen cars lined up behind us when she finally moved over.

2 "Farm" photos to finish the first few days - the other rooster is a regular Rhode Island Red but this is the new guy in town with very interesting plumage. He's got a good song for first thing in the morning (5:00 am) and has so far avoided direct combat with RIR.

And here's what you get when you wash the "Bio" lettuce (organic from the farmer's market). Ask me if I really like the crunchy, gritty flavor....I'm buying lettuce from the dumb old market from now on.

Tomorrow is TdF day - shopping!
